Buffalo Cauliflower Bites (Vegan)

This is seriously my new FAVORITE appetizer! Before becoming a vegetarian, buffalo chicken was my go-to comfort food. I have finally found a fantastic and delicious substitute!

It’s important to remember that appetizers like buffalo cauliflower bites should be consumed in moderation. Buffalo sauce tends to be fairly in sodium, even when you make it at home. The buffalo sauce recipe that I’ve uploaded here has about 160 mg less sodium per serving than many commercial buffalo sauces, and it is SUPER easy to make. Give it a try!

  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 cup of whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup of soy milk (regular milk works fine too!)
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup buffalo sauce
(I highly recommend trying the Homestyle Buffalo Sauce recipe!)
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees. Then, take a large baking sheet and line it with parchment paper. Set the baking sheet aside for now.

  2. Using a large knife, carefully remove the stem in 1 head of cauliflower, and then cut the cauliflower head into bite-sized florets. Set aside.

  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine the flour, milk, and garlic powder. Mix until you have a nice even batter. Take about 4-5 cauliflower florets at a time, and dip them into the batter-bowl. Try to evenly coat each floret.

  4. Transfer each battered floret evenly onto the baking sheet. Heat in the oven for 20 minutes.fullsizeoutput_756.jpeg*For those of you making a home-made buffalo sauce, this is a great time to put it together! It takes less than 5 minutes!*

  5. While the breaded cauliflower is baking, take another small bowl and mix together the buffalo sauce and 1 Tbsp. of olive oil. Set aside until the breaded cauliflower is ready.
  6. Carefully take the cauliflower out of the oven. (Keep the oven heated, you will need it again shortly!)
  7. Next, either dip the florets into the sauce, or pour the buffalo sauce over the breaded cauliflower until you run out of sauce. Place the baking sheet back into the oven for about another 5-8 minutes.
  8. Carefully take the buffalo cauliflower bites out of the oven. Let them cool for about 2 minutes before serving, and then…
